Three Gun Fun

Today (Febuary 6, 2011) Johnny and I went to Mississippi to shoot in a three gun match... actually he practically forced me to go and he shot like he was in a match while I shot to learn the ropes. I did well on hitting my targets, but I took my time so I wouldn't mess up. Lemme' tell ya', there are a lot of ways you can mess up and if you do so you get disqualified and do not get to shoot for the rest of the day. Unfortunately another shooter did DQ due to not sticking to the strict safety rules imposed on all shooters for safety. We all shot four stages with only one of them being strictly shotgun. I did come out ahead of two more experienced shooters on one stage and ahead of just one on another. My feeling was "at least I didn't come out on the bottom of every stage"! And brother, that wasn't easy! Three gun was a lot of fun, but it is a big time challenge for a beginner and for one who is so out of shape like myself. I'll be trying to shed some serious pounds now, just so I can start picking up speed out there in future matches. I found the match to be good training for improving skills with all three guns. Next time I hope to have a semi-auto shotgun.... that pump worked me instead of the other way around. I will be going back that's for sure and I encourage all of you to try it! Check out all of the 3 gun videos that we'll have up!
