Big Guns are for Ladies Too!

Here's my wife Rachel posing with a nice AR-15 with a U.S. Military isuue bayonet. I love that bayonet. Rachel; thought it was pretty cool that I could stab the blade into a wooden table top and the point of the blade held the entire gun upside down sticking straight up out from the table. The blade is super strong. Anyway, Rachel has shot my favorite AR-15 one day at the range and she liked shooting it, but with a 30 round magazine she asked "when is it going to run out of ammo?" My two year old saw her mom shoot dad's gun and she wanted in on it (she is now 3 years old). I sat my baby girl on my lap and helped her pull the trigger. She laughed everytime the gun thundered to life. I think I got myslef another gun girl. My oldest daughter enjoys shooting her custom pink rifle and she likes to shoot pistols as well. This summer I plan on getting her away from just shooting the .22 long rifle stuff and get her into shooting a 5.56mm AR!!!
As I free up some weekends for myself, I'd like to get my wife down to the range more (the kids too) and let her try different rifles to see which one she likes the best. She wants to learn more and I'd love to have her shoot more... at least I'd have a reason to go to the range more right! Nahhh.... it'll be her time. I'm just glad she suggested we go into this business and that she wants to know more about guns and shooting.
I hope more women deside to try rifles and shotguns out and give them a chance. Heck, many, many women are shooting them now and a lot of them are champion shooters. But I would like to see more ladies on the rifle side of the range.

If you are new to rifles, a .22lr is a good caliber to start with due to its low noise levels and weak recoil. An AR-15 is low recoil too, but offer's more adventure to a day off shooting with tons more power than a .22 long rifle. .22 Magnums and rifles chambered for the .17HMR are also excellent choices for rifle fun. The next time you want to shoot, consider leaving the handguns at home and take a rifle with you.... you just may discover that you are a rifle person.
Just say NO to socialism!
