My sister in law Meredith bought this gun awhile back and asked if we could work it over. We came up with a custom olive drab green metallic ceramic finish and applied it after the gun was cryo treated. The front quad rail is by Osprey and the gun has an ATI adjustable AR buttsock. A new rubberized pistol grip (with sealed storage compartment) was installed along with a new style side scope mount and red dot scope. Up front it has a slant muszzle brake and a pivoting vertical grip. All of the controls were coated in a flat black ceramic as well as a mag or two. It truly did come out nice. This gun is very popular at the gun shows we show it at.
As a military weapon the AK is in a class of its own. This one happens to be a WASR10 and I'll tell you why I like these Romanian guns so much. They are one of the lightest (if not the lightest) AK's around. I do not mind carrying one all day due to its carbine length and light weight. Once you start adding all of the gadgets and a loaded magazine, the weight does start to pile up. The AR15 is still lighter though. I have personally witnessed one dropped into a bayou near the shore and it was retreived covered in mud (filled too). After a quick field strip and heavy gunk removal the gun went to work without any troubles.... it still had Louisiana mud and whatever else in it. They are closer range - heavy hitting guns and are a blast to shoot. I have carted spare ceramic floor tiles to the shooting grounds and made shards out of them with an AK-47. The ammo is still cheaper than that for an AR15 and that makes it easier for me to blast away for fun.
